OpenX MCP Server tools
This page is the full list of tools the OpenX MCP server offers, and the one place that list is kept. Each tool has its own page with its inputs, an example call and its errors.
The seven tools
| Tool | Does | Changes anything |
|---|---|---|
get_workspace | Returns the workspace as stored: data connections, queries, pending proposals | No |
retrieve_inventory | What exists outside the record: locations, containers, what the cloud offers | No |
get_stats | How each part is doing now: health, and metrics on request | No |
get_azure_listing | The person's Azure directories, subscriptions and billing scopes, as names and codes; never ids | No |
call_api | Calls one read-only route of the OpenX api, such as a saved warm query | No |
manage_proposals | Proposes changes; a person accepts them in the portal | Proposes only |
browse_docs | Browses and searches these docs and the workspace's guides | No |
Every tool but manage_proposals tells the client it is read-only, a hint a client may use to decide what to
run without asking. What really keeps them from changing anything is the server: call_api calls only routes
tagged read-only, and manage_proposals is the only tool that writes, and it writes proposals only.
Which tool to start with
Start with get_workspace to see what is there. Use call_api with route "" to list the routes
you may call. Before proposing a change, read the kind's guide with get_workspace and
includeGuides: true, then run manage_proposals with checkOnly: true.
Removed tools
Older tool names were removed on 2026-10-15. A call to one gets the MCP unknown-tool error and runs nothing. The table of each removed name and the tool to use instead is in Bring Any AI (MCP).
