Data & IoT Fabric
How the window works is in the Data & IoT Fabric guide. This page is for when the analytics cluster does not come up.
The analytics cluster was Canceled
You see one or more of these:
- Latest deployment ends with "Azure stopped setting up the analytics cluster before it finished (Azure reports its provisioning as Canceled), so this check ended. Nothing was rolled back. Press Save & Provision to set it up again: the save sends the same create request again."
- The Data Explorer card says the same, marks the cluster as stopped, and shows no Start Cluster button.
- Thinky, asked how the IoT fabric is doing, reports the cluster as
downwith that sentence andProvisioningState: Canceled.
What it means. Azure reports the cluster's provisioning as Canceled: it began creating the cluster and stopped before it finished. The cluster is not running and cannot be, so nothing that queries the fabric works until it is set up again. Nothing was rolled back and nothing in your subscription was deleted. Your hub is unaffected: it keeps collecting telemetry and holds it for 7 days.
The fix is one press. Open Environment -> Data & IoT Fabric and press Save & Provision. The save sends the same create request again, with the same name and the same settings, and the cluster goes back to creating. The window then waits for it, and finishes the database, its tables, the hub's data connection and your workspace's access when the cluster runs, as it does for a first save. See Save & Provision.
- It is one create request for each press, and it needs no right beyond being in the workspace. It is not a rebuild: nothing is deleted.
- Nothing sends it for you. A check that runs in the background, or reopening the window, never repairs the cluster: it ends again with the same sentence until you press.
Why there is no Start Cluster. Start Cluster only wakes a cluster that finished setting up and was stopped. Azure cannot start one it stopped setting up, so offering the button would only fail. Setting it up again is what Save & Provision does.
If it is Canceled again. The next check says so and ends, and you can press again. A cluster Azure keeps canceling is a problem on the Azure side, not something a second press changes: open the cluster in the Azure portal and read its activity log for the reason Azure gives, then press Save & Provision once that is sorted.
