Live Stream

How the panel behaves is in the Live Stream guide. This page is for when it does not do what you expect.

The list moved while I was reading

The Live Stream keeps your place when you have scrolled down, and new events then arrive above you without moving what you read. It follows the newest event only when you are at the top. A record you click opens in its own details panel, so the record you are reading never moves (see A record's details).

  • If it moved while you were at the top, that was it following. Scroll down a little and it holds still.
  • If it moved while you were scrolled down, tell us what you were doing.

Clicking another record replaced the one I was reading

That is the details panel showing the record you clicked last. Press the pin in the details panel's title bar to keep its record: the next record you click opens a new details panel beside it.

I scrolled away and want to get back to the newest

A button reading N new (for example 12 new) shows under the filter row while you are away from the top and events have arrived. Press it and the list jumps to the newest event and follows again. It reads 500+ new when more than the 500 kept events arrived. It is never shown at the top, and it counts only while the Live Stream is on screen: a tab in the background has its own line, When you were away. See Staying on live, and getting back to it.

It says "No impulses have arrived yet."

The stream is connected and no event has arrived yet. Events appear as a connection receives them. If it says it is connecting, or that it is not connected, see A panel says nothing is there yet. If data should be flowing, see No data showing and Connections.

It says "No impulses match the current filters."

Events arrived, but the connection menu or the filter box hides all of them. Set the menu back to All Connections and empty the filter box.

The oldest events are gone

The Live Stream keeps the newest 500 events. Clear also empties the list. Neither stops new events from arriving.

A connection's name shows once

Each entry names its connection once, in its heading. Opening the entry does not repeat the name. An event with no connection name shows Unnamed Connection.

The panel is gone

If the whole Live Stream is missing from the workspace, it is collapsed. See A panel disappeared.
