My Sign-In Ended

You pressed a button, such as Create for a new workspace, and a Session expired box opened instead.

What happened

Your sign-in to OpenX lasts about an hour. A tab you leave open longer keeps showing your workspace, but the next thing you ask it to do needs you to sign in again. Nothing you asked for was done, and nothing was lost.

The box is the only thing you see. Its first line says what did not happen, for example Your workspace wasn't created because your sign-in ended. You will not see a "Failed, please try again" message as well: trying again before you sign in could not work.

Finish what you were doing

  1. In the box, press Sign in again. A small sign-in window opens. Your workspace page stays where it is, and everything you typed stays in place.
  2. Finish signing in in that window. Usually you are signed in at once without a password; if your sign-in has been gone a long time, you are asked for it.
  3. The sign-in window closes by itself, and so does the box.
  4. Press the button again, for example Create. Your typed name and description are still in the form.

OpenX never repeats your action for you. You decide when to press the button again, and you can change what you typed first.

If you sign in as a different person in the sign-in window, the page says so and offers to reload as them; nothing on the page acts as the new person until it reloads.

If the sign-in window does not open

Your browser may block windows a page opens. The box then says so and offers sign in in a new tab. Sign in there, then come back to your workspace tab: the box closes once the sign-in is done. To skip this next time, allow pop-ups for the OpenX site in your browser.

While the box is up

The workspace stops checking your sign-in in the background, and the Live Stream pauses. Both carry on by themselves once you are signed in again.

Actions this covers

Creating a workspace, restoring an archived workspace, archiving a workspace, and Set Active in Manage Workspaces each say in the box what did not happen. Set Active stays on your current workspace until you sign in and press it again.

Archiving a workspace

The Archive window, in Manage Workspaces or in Workspace Settings, stays open when your sign-in ends. The box says The workspace wasn't archived because your sign-in ended. and the window shows no message of its own. Nothing was archived.

  • If the sign-in ended before the window showed what Archive will do, the window waits. Once you have signed in it reads that again by itself, and then you can press Archive.
  • If it ended after the window showed what Archive will do, that stays as it was, with the choices you made about your data. After you sign in, press Archive again.

OpenX does not archive for you after you sign in: the workspace is archived only when you press Archive. If Archive is refused for another reason, such as a deploy that is still running, the window says that instead, and the Session expired box does not open.

If your sign-in ends while you save the canvas, OpenX tells you once and keeps your changes; sign in again and save.
