What this stage is

Thoughts is where raw signal becomes understanding. You work through what the intake means, what matters, and what you actually think - captured, not lost when the session ends. This is the stage that compounds hardest: every thought builds on the ones before it.

thought runs a research-and-synthesis loop:

• Research - it gathers external research and internal context, each alongside what was previously captured, so you're never starting from zero.
• Curation - it curates what's worth keeping.
• Synthesis - it synthesizes the material into structured thoughts, organized into chapters.
• Loop - synthesis can surface "does this need more research?" and send you back for another pass.

It produces a research, notes, and synthesis structure you carry into the next stage. In your AI tool it surfaces as the fai:research_thought prompt.
